Mandate
The mandate of this project was to create a book about Sean Scully,
an Irish-born, American-based artist who worked as a painter, sculptor
and photographer.
Process
I designed a cover inspired by Scully's work which is often composed of geometric and contrasting shapes. I have also decided to represent the visual rhythm of his art by playing with alignment: the elements of the table of contents, for instance, do not follow a straight line. For chapter divisions, I used solid black backgrounds with bold, white numbers. This was to refer to Scully's bold character.
outcome
My design altogether is neat, structured, organized, and easy to follow.
